Salone del Mobile, the world’s leading furniture fair, returned to Milan, Italy from April 18-23, 2023. The theme for this year’s event was “Euroluce,” which placed an emphasis on lighting design.
The fair featured over 2,000 exhibitors from over 60 countries, showcasing the latest trends in furniture and lighting design. Some of the most notable exhibitors included:
- B&B Italia: B&B Italia is an Italian furniture company that is known for its innovative and stylish designs. They showcased their new collection of sofas, chairs, and tables at Salone del Mobile 2023.
- Kartell: Kartell is an Italian furniture company that is known for its use of plastic in its designs. They showcased their new collection of chairs, tables, and lighting at Salone del Mobile 2023.
- Foscarini: Foscarini is an Italian lighting company that is known for its innovative and stylish designs. They showcased their new collection of chandeliers, lamps, and sconces at Salone del Mobile 2023.
- Moroso: Moroso is an Italian furniture company that is known for its timeless and elegant designs. They showcased their new collection of sofas, chairs, and tables at Salone del Mobile 2023.
- Poliform: Poliform is an Italian furniture company that is known for its high-quality and functional designs. They showcased their new collection of bedrooms, kitchens, and living rooms at Salone del Mobile 2023.
- Florim: Florim is an Italian ceramic tile company that is known for its high-quality and innovative designs. I was personally invited to their booth at Salone del Mobile, where I was able to see their new collection of porcelain slabs. I was also invited to their factory in Italy (More to come on that in another article), where I was able to see how their porcelain slabs are made. I was so impressed by their products and their commitment to quality, I have used their porcelain slabs / Tiles in several of my projects.
In addition to the main event at the Rho Fiera exhibition center, there were also many beautiful exhibits around town that were worth checking out. Here are a few of the highlights:
- Grohe: Grohe is a German bathroom fixtures company that showcased their new collection of faucets and showers at an exhibit in the city center.
- Google: Google hosted an exhibit at the Triennale di Milano that explored the future of design and technology.
- Dior: Dior hosted an exhibit at their flagship store in Milan that showcased their new line of home furnishings, in partnership with Philippe Starck.
- Beyond the Surface: This exhibit explored the intersection of art and design, and featured works by artists such as Olafur Eliasson and Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec.
Overall, Salone del Mobile 2023 was a feast for the senses. With its beautiful exhibits, innovative products, and sustainable practices, it was a showcase for the future of interior design.
I was lucky enough to attend Salone del Mobile 2023, and I was blown away by the quality of the exhibits. I learned a lot about the latest trends in furniture and lighting design, and I was inspired by the creativity of the designers.
