The most beautiful kitchen I have ever designed would be useless if the refrigerator were in the wrong place. Function and aesthetics are not competing values in kitchen design. They are inseparable. A kitchen that is hard to cook in will always feel wrong, regardless of the stone on the island or the quality of the cabinetry. A kitchen that works perfectly but looks like a utility room is equally incomplete.
The work of kitchen design in a high-end residential project is integrating both with enough precision that neither feels like a compromise.
